Happy fall, everyone! This September brought many additions to the JURA machine lineup, from the 5th generation JURA E8 to the newly introduced JURA E10 and JURA J10 twin. All having launched on September 1st, the introduction to this many new JURA machines all at once might be a little overwhelming, which is why we're here to guide you through all of the new updates and newcomers.
JURA E8 (5th Generation)
When the fourth generation of the JURA E8 was introduced, we wrote an article about the differences between that model and the one before it. So, it's only right we tell you about what makes this even newer model different from the last.
JURA's recently introduced "Worlds of Indulgence" bring Light Brew and Sweet Foam options to the fifth iteration of this machine, upping the menu from 17 to 27 specialties. The light brown hue of the Light Brew world and the delicate yellow of the Sweet Foam world light up your screen when chosen, indicating that the respective world is selected.
Light Brew is new to JURA, using a temperature of 60° Celsius and 10% less coffee than you would get from a Classic Hot Brew drink. This is an ideal setting for when you're on the go and need a kick of caffeine that is cool enough to drink straight after extraction, or when you're brewing a lighter roast. The Light Brew setting will accentuate the flavours of the light roast beans in a way that will make them pop.
Sweet Foam brings another level of flavour and customization to espresso by incorporating your chosen syrup into the milk portion of the drink. When the milk foam is being poured into the cup, the syrup attachment holds any syrup added and mixes it in before it reaches the cup. The result is an espresso specialty specially customized to your tastes for when something extra sweet is needed.
Though only 10 millimetres were taken off the width of the machine between the fourth and fifth generation E8s, it makes a huge visual difference. The machine is evidently slimmer, and it provides the E8 with a sleeker and more fashionable look. It also gives you back some space on your counter (and who wouldn't want that?).
Available in the classic Piano Black and the new Midnight Silver, the E8 has two contrasting looks to choose from, and they're both adorned by an elegant wave pattern on the drip tray and water tank.
Other features that are not only new to the E8 but to JURA recently are the Coffee Timer and Quality Assistant. Coffee Timer works to your schedule, making your life just that much easier. Set a time for coffee preparation on your J.O.E.® app, place a cup under the spout, and have your coffee ready for you as soon as you wake up in the morning. These conveniences are what make superautomatic machines like JURA so compelling--adding in as much ease of use and comfort into your life as possible.
Quality Assistant is perfect for those who are new to the JURA world: get reminders of vital processes that keep your machine in its best shape, extending its lifespan to its fullest potential. Not only does this benefit the machine, but this benefits you, as the user. This results in better tasting coffee and a coffee machine that will last you a long, long time. For long-time users who may not feel these reminders are necessary, there is the option to turn these off.
JURA E10
New to the E line, the JURA E10 comes in a beautiful Onyx Grey that is sure to catch the eye of anyone who walks through your kitchen.
The same Worlds of Indulgence that were introduced with the E8 are brought to the E10 with the addition of the aforementioned Hot Brew, Light Brew, and Sweet Foam, but with Cold Brew as well.
Some love hot coffee, some love cold, iced coffee--thankfully the E10 provides you with both. This world, indicated by an icy blue colour, prepares the espresso with cold water itself. Pulsing into the espresso at a high pressure and a slower rate, the cold water absorbs all of the aroma from the ground coffee and delivers it to your cup, resulting in the same amount of flavour you would get from a regular hot drink. This isn't simply making your hot coffee cold. JURA always refers to its cold brew products as "more than just cold coffee," because the cool temperature of the water is integrated into the drink from the beginning. This results in a higher quality coffee and does justice to all of the flavours provided by the coffee bean.
Similar in function to the E8 (they are from the same line, after all!), the E10 has a 3.5" screen with easy-to-use buttons. This machine is also equipped with Coffee Timer, Quality Assistant, and the other three "Worlds," with a total menu of 36 items.
JURA Z10
The beloved JURA Z10 is onto its second generation as it stays true to what it is, while adding on even more special features. Like the E10, the Z10 provides options for all four Worlds of Indulgence, including Hot Brew, Light Brew, Cold Brew, and Sweet Foam. The total menu for this machine boasts 51 specialties, a true powerhouse in the residential superautomatic espresso world.
JURA's chocolate syrup addition to the Z10 brings a rich and decadent flavour profile to a mocaccino or a bout of chocolate foam (perhaps for the kids in your life). With the dedicated chocolate syrup attachment, the syrup sits right between the two espresso spouts and effortlessly blends the chocolate taste into the milk. Chocolate syrup attachments are available to purchase on their own as well.
Also featured on this machine are the Quality Assistant and Coffee Timer, in addition to User Profiles and Caffeine Regulator.
With different profiles for different users, the separation of preferred drink settings makes everything a lot easier to access. By saving personalized drink settings under nameable profiles, the Z10 gives way to another level of customization for its users. This feature is ideal for several people living under the same roof with varying tastes in coffee.
We've all been there--wanting a coffee but it's just a little too late in the day. With no decaf on hand, you still have the opportunity to indulge in a warm cup of coffee on the JURA Z10 Gen 2 with JURA's new Caffeine Regulator feature. Choose from three settings while preparing your drink: low, normal, and high levels of caffeine. This way, you can still delight in a drink without worrying about keeping yourself up at night, even with your standard caffeinated beans. On the other hand, give an added kick to your caffeine on those days you need an extra pick-me-up.
Aluminum White and Aluminum Black make both of the available colours a stand-out, along with its wave patterns along the front and throughout the water tank.
JURA J10 twin
An upgrade on the J8 twin, the new JURA J10 twin brings the same two hopper, two P.A.G.3+ grinder concept into an even better machine with more possibilities at hand.
Available in Diamond Onyx, the J10 twin is adorned with a 6.7" touchscreen that stretches across three panels, aptly named the Panorama Coffee Panel. This multi-plan screen plays into the dual usage of the hoppers and grinders. When adjusting the settings on the drink before extraction, the left panel corresponds to the beans you have in the hopper behind it, while the right panel does the same for its own hopper. Choose between using only one kind of bean from one of the hoppers or a blend of both when making your drinks. The separation of beans is ideal for households that have two kinds of beans that are regularly used, even if they're regular vs. decaf or light vs. dark.
Aroma Control makes sure that the consistency of grind for every drink is the ideal match, so that you're always receiving the best possible flavours and aromas from every extraction. Coffee Eye ensures the cup is placed under the correct spout, preventing messes and wasted coffee.
A more premium machine, the J10 twin also provides all four Worlds of Indulgence, just like the Z10. That means you can have Hot Brew, Light Brew, Cold Brew, and Sweet Foam using either hopper. The J10 twin menu is a whopping 46 items--with this model, you practically get your own café under your own roof.
