JURA's Cold Extraction Process on the Z10

As the temperatures hit their peak for the year this summer, it's more likely we're reaching for colder drinks (read: colder coffee) in our day-to-day.

While some coffee machines only serve hot coffee, making it a lengthier process in getting the drink to cool down, certain JURA espresso machines do the work for you. And as it's always said, JURA's Cold Extraction Process is not just cold coffee. The machines use a specific process that make the cold brew coffees as flavourful as possible, even with less heat.

How it works

JURA's Cold Extraction Process is available on the Z10, GIGA 10, and X10. On the display screen, you'll know when Cold Brew has been selected as it's represented by a snowflake symbol. Once this is selected, fill your glass with ice to get the full effect of the Cold Extraction, and choose your selected drink.

During the process, cold water is used in the extraction of the coffee. It's not just the temperature of the water itself that makes it a premium cold extraction process, but rather the way the coffee is brewed, too. With an extraction at a slower rate, the water is pulsed through the espresso at high pressures. This is why, if you watch the Cold Extraction yourself, it will seem slower than that of a regularly brewed JURA drink.

With this kind of brewing process, the flavours of the coffee are fully captured and included in your cup. As the cold water is pulsed through the ground coffee, it has more time to take in all of the flavours and notes that the beans have to offer. This is why JURA explains this as more than just cold coffee--the process has been thoroughly thought out, so that it's sure to make more than a mediocre cup of cold coffee. It provides highly flavourful chilled espresso in a fraction of the time it would take to cool down a regularly-brewed hot drink.

Expanding the possibilities

JURA's Cold Extraction Process isn't the only special type of drink process that is used in their machines. The JURA C9 includes the newly introduced Light Brew on the C9, providing a lighter and ready-to-drink coffee option. There is an impressive amount of versatility in superautomatic espresso machines nowadays--with these different options, JURA is expanding on its capabilities and kinds of machines you can choose from.

Intricate processes that lead to JURA's cold brew specialties show that these different kinds of drinks are not merely an afterthought in the JURA design, but rather crafted to create the best experience for its users. Getting through the hot temperatures of summer is a much easier feat with the Cold Extraction Process working for you.
