Super-automatic espresso machine JURA Z10 - Aluminum White
JURA Z10 in Aluminum White

Our showroom not only serves as a showroom, but as a service centre for JURA super-automatic espresso machines. When searching for a new espresso machine, you may come across the term "super-automatic," but might not understand entirely the meaning of the term. Well, that's what we're here for! Here's the rundown on super-automatic espresso machines:

The Main Idea

Super-automatic machines are known to do pretty much all of the work. It's the main drawing point for customers -- when you make a drink from one of these machines, you don't have to stress about anything other than pressing a button or two before relishing in the delight of a freshly brewed coffee.

This is different from other forms of espresso machines, such as manual/traditional and semi-automatic. While they all result in tasty beverages, the ways of getting to that point are different for each category.

Manual/traditional machines require the most work, where the user is in charge of dosing, tamping, and taking control of the extraction. Semi-automatic takes a step up in the automation direction, where a switch is used in order to proceed with extraction, taken care of by the machine. Super-automatic is the king of automation in the coffee machine world: it grinds the beans, takes care of extraction, and even does automatic milk frothing.

Of course, there are still maintenance routines that the user has to take care of, such as refilling beans and water when needed. That being said, even processes such as cleaning the milk system have an element of automation to them. For JURA, that's using some Milk System Cleaner, and letting the machine's cleaning processes take care of the rest.

Price Points

There is not one singular set of capabilities that a super-automatic espresso machine can carry. Of course, for a higher price point, there will be more to the machine than a more budget-friendly model. Looking at the JURA brand, we can compare the cheaper E4 to the more premium Z10 (both residential models).

Despite their differences, the two machines are still both super-automatic and will happily make an espresso for you with minimal effort on your part. Also, the range of prices allows the user to acquire only what they need -- coffee lovers who only drink espressos can opt for the E4, while coffee enthusiasts who like to explore different drinks might be more interested in a model like the Z10.

In the Home or at the Office

Super-automatic machines don't have a limitation to where they can be used. Available in both residential and commercial models, users can experience the benefits of super-automatic machines at home, in the office, or even to serve customers at a small café or similar spaces.

While JURA does produce commercial super-automatic machines, brands like WMF, Curtis, and Schaerer are also well-known in this department. Just like residential machines, there are a variety of features that are available based on the model. Overall, though, commercial super-automatic models usually come equipped with larger bean hoppers and a higher daily shot output, and can come with mechanisms for locking (for security) and payment.
