The Jura E6 has recently been given the title of “Test winner” in the fully automatic coffee machines with milk frother category in 2021. This title has not been given by just anyone. The E6 was awarded by the prestigious “Stiftung Warentest.”
If you have never heard of Stiftung Warentest, they are a German consumer organisation and foundation involved in investigating and comparing goods and services in an unbiased way. It was founded on 4 December 1964 by the Federal Republic of Germany as an independent foundation under civil law. Stiftung Warentest has an important role in two main areas. On the one hand it has the task of comparing objective aspects such as usefulness, functionality and environmental impact. Due to its very well known and established reputation as an independent and reliable organization, the foundation has a considerable influence on the buying behavior of consumers.
For the E6 to be hailed as the best in their category is not as simple as having the best tasting milk based coffee beverage. It is much more complicated than that and the winning machine would have to be very well rounded.
Here is what “Stiftung Warentest” determined about the E6 including the categories that machines are judged on.
- Taste test: Officially, this test item is called "Sensory Evaluation". Among other things, this is a taste test by trained people who evaluate the mouthfeel, crema and smell of an espresso, for example. In addition, the milk froth is rated according to appearance, smell, mouthfeel and taste. In short, the Jura E6 does both very well and no other fully automatic coffee machine achieved that in the test.
- Technical test: The technical test tests, among other things, the time from switching on to operational readiness, as well as the temperature of a tapped espresso and how well the strength and temperature can be varied. The Jura has a weakness with the latter, otherwise the heating time and espresso temperature are good, and the strength can also be varied easily. The milk foam is also frothed up nicely, only the price-performance recommendation from Philips makes it better.
- Handling: The handling of the Jura E6 is one of the best in the test. Operating instructions, preparation of beverages, cleaning and hygiene, there is a rating of "good" everywhere. Descaling is at least okay.
- Security: With the best rating in the test, there is nothing to complain about here.
- Environmental properties: Here, too, absolutely worthy of the test winner, low power consumption and no excessively loud operating noise measurable.
- Pollutants: no pollutants detectable
