How to select a model from Jura’s new line of espresso machines

If you have made it to this blog post I am sure you are already aware of the Jura name and know that it is arguably the best brand in the sphere of home super automatic espresso machines, but within the world of Jura there are variations in their machines as to be able to please each type of coffee drinker. Before we explore the differences between Jura’s line of machines, it’s best to start off what you can guarantee from all the machines in their line-up whether they’re on the premium or economy side of the spectrum.

All Household Jura Machines:

  1. Aroma G3 Grinder: All grinders have Jura’s G3 technology and they are all integrated into the machine, the grinder will work at the touch of a button when you select your drink. What makes the G3 grinder special is that it grinds the beans into the perfect coarseness or fineness within seconds. This is all programmable or it can be done on the fly right after you have selected your drink. This specific attention to the fine-tuning of the beans is what creates that delicious taste of coffee that Jura is famous for creating. Not only does it affect flavor, but it also affects the potency. Jura has allowed for their machines to match everyone’s preference for coffee experience.
  2. Pulse Extraction Process (P.E.P.): This second key tech maximizes the flavor potential of the ground coffee by pulsating hot water through the grind at carefully calculated intervals. By optimizing extraction time, P.E.P. creates excellent coffee strength, flavor, aroma and a thick, luscious crema.
  3. Excellent Service + 2 Year Warranty: Being a Swiss company that values quality over anything else, Jura’s service is known to be reliable and quick compared to other companies. In addition, we at Quality Coffee Systems are the official service and hospitality center for Jura in Western Canada. This means every Jura machine in western Canada will come to us for repairs, we guarantee 48 hours for fixing your machine and we stock all Jura parts to make our service run efficiently and smoothly. You can think of our office as your Jura machine’s family doctor.

Now we know what every Jura machine can guarantee you, but there are still factors we need to consider before selecting the right machine for you. A simple start to the process would be to answer a few questions so we can recommend a few of the models. We do not like to simply sell whatever machine without much thought as we want the decision to be one that would be beneficial to our customers in the long run.

Differences between machines come down to size and features.

Questions to consider:

  1. How many people will be using the machine + how many cups a day are consumed?
  2. What kind of coffee will be consumed? (Coffee, Espresso, Latte, Cappuccino etc.)
  3. Do you get guests over who drink coffee?

These questions give us a good idea on 2 important pieces of information. It will tell us how much the machine will be used and tell us about the variation of drinks to be had.

  • If the machine will be used a lot, it is NOT a good idea to get a machine with a smaller sized brew unit as it will wear down faster and there is higher chance of the machine needing maintenance of any kind. A bigger brew unit can also withstand the constant making of a stronger shot of espresso as it is more durable.
  • If the machine is going to be used often, a smaller machine would become annoying as their water tanks and drip trays are smaller which would result in more interruptions from your coffee experience as you would have to empty those quite frequently.
  • If you drink lattes and cappuccinos frequently there are models that will not be for you simply because they’re either unable to make a latte/cappuccino with one touch of a button or the machine requires an extra step. Another big benefit of most Jura machines is that they are a “one-step” machine meaning that the machine will do all the milk frothing. If you or someone in the family drinks milk-based drinks, why not go for the models that nail the cappuccino or latte experience perfectly. After all, another reason Jura is popular is for the convenience.
  • If you want no limitations on how many people use the machine or no restrictions on what kind of drinks there are models that can take care of that as well, for example the S8 model has a one touch function for 15 specialty coffees from espresso to macchiato.

Aside from price range and aesthetics, the factors I have just mentioned are crucial in your process of making a decision on a machine that will fulfill the coffee desires of you and your family as well as being reliable and durable.
