Have you outgrown your plastic-based, pod-style non-espresso machine? Is your palate craving something with the flavour and quality of a genuine café?

Could you be due for an upgrade? Yeah…we thought so.

At times, we all reach a point where there are only so many more cups of “fake” espresso that we can tolerate – understandable! We also understand where that purchase came from. Many well-intentioned individuals have impulse-bought these types of machines that produce below average caffeinated beverages. Whether on a whim or a tight budget, this scenario is something many of us are familiar with. And although these gadgets may have served their purpose for a time, many have outstayed their welcome and simply can’t compete with true espresso machines. For Vancouver’s coffee diehards, it’s time to move on – and move up.

When We Say “True Espresso” …

If you’ve ever tasted a “cappuccino” from a gas station, or an “espresso” produced by a pod, you’ll know the difference between that and what you would get from a gourmet café. True espresso is created through an intense and precise process, one which has stood the test of time. Plastic-based machines in general, are not equipped with the kind of mechanics that would result in authentic, deliciously rich (and don’t forget smooth!) espresso – aka the real deal. What you should expect from these cheap knockoffs is exactly that – counterfeit coffee in espresso clothing.

For those with a less-than-refined taste for caffeinated beverages, these types of machines can do the job. But if you’re reading this, we’re assuming you either don’t fall into that category, or are exploring your options and increasing your expectations.

Remote Working is Changing Our Needs

Many have made the permanent switch to working from home, something that has created somewhat of a challenge where function, feasibility and productivity are concerned. Those of us who are still in the process of making the adjustment are looking for ways to convert our homes into appropriate workspaces for the long term. This means reconfiguring or acquiring furniture, the use of productivity apps, and having convenient access to tried-and-true office perks (i.e., espresso machines) at all hours of the day.

Vancouver’s coffee-loving nine-to-fivers have become accustomed to and rely on commercial machine-made lattes to boost productivity, satisfy their palates and maintain optimum energy levels. But since remote working took effect, the lack of café convenience (as well as concerns around health and safety) has posed problems for many of us. Therefore, we've been forced to become our own baristas, relying on home espresso machines to make up for our lack of experience in that arena. But the glaring issue remains – there are vast differences between “espresso-like” coffee machines and those offered by us at QCS. Vancouver’s caffeine-craving remote workers would do best to understand these key differences before making another substantial coffee-based purchase.

Perhaps you’re not looking to upgrade from an older or cheaper espresso machine, but a standard drip coffee maker. You’re not alone. If you’re looking to dip your toes in the world of specialty beverages from home, there are endless options to suit your needs and desires. Visit our products page or contact us to learn more.
